MESSAGE FROM NATIONAL COORDINATOR, BOB CANTON
Praise the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, now and forever!!
As I’m writing this column, I just came back from the recently-concluded AFCCPC 3 rd East Atlantic Regional Conference that was held in the Hilton Hotel in East Brunswick, N.J. The Conference was definitely a great success in all aspects, and I believe the Lord was glorified through it. No doubt, the Lord Himself provided all the ingredients necessary for making this Conference a very memorable one indeed. Few days before the Conference, 43 of us pilgrims, including my wife, Chita, came back from our Spirit-led, and fun-filled pilgrimage and Healing Crusades to Zurich and Lucerne, Switzerland, Oberammergau, Munich, Dresden, and Berlin, Germany, Vaduz in Liechtenstein, and Prague, Czech Republic. The Passion Play in Oberammergau, Germany, which is held every ten years from May through September, is really unforgettable.
Once again, the Regional Coordinators and other AFCCPC leaders in that region led by Purita and Mario Vazquez, Nancy Manaois, the head of the Conference Secretariat, Dr. Dave Armesto and Liza Jablonski, the Deputy Lead Coordinators, Grace Bernardo, the Youth Conference Coordinator, did an Spirit-filled job in making this Conference one of the most-powerful and anointed Conferences to be held in that Region. The Planning Committee, the different Conference Ministries, notably the various music ministries, the ushers, the volunteers, the members of St. John Prayer Group, and other prayer groups and communities in the Region, the Speakers, all the MC’s, and many more individuals and groups too numerous to mention in this limited space, have contributed greatly to the success of the Conference. Special thanks also go to the members of the clergy, especially Bishop Oscar Solis, the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, who took time out from his hectic schedule to be with us as a speaker and Mass presider, Fr. Joe Cadusale, Fr. Bill Halbing, our Asst. Head Shepherd, Fr. Vic Paloma, Fr. Antonio Ver, Deacon Manny Acosta . Kudos to all of you! I really feel blessed and fortunate to be working with all of you and to be counted as one of your “servants.”
What’s Next?
The next thing to do now is to continue to pray that the Lord will tend the “ seeds” that were planted through this Conference and make the “seeds” grow to further His Kingdom. It also means that we should do our part to continue to evangelize those who came to the Conference and invite them to our prayer meetings, bible studies, LSS, Growth in the Spirit Seminars, Days of Renewal, and other evangelistic activities, not to mention about encouraging people to avail themselves of the Sacraments of the Church, such as the Eucharist and Reconciliation, on a regular basis.
In this vein, I would like to remind the leaders and members of the prayer groups and communities to attend the ICCRS Leadership Training Course to be held at the Franciscan University in Steubenville, OH. on Sept. 12-19, 2010. This is the first time that the Vatican-based International Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services(ICCRS) will conduct this Leadership Training Course in North America. The speakers are Michele Moran, ICCRS president, who is from UK, Jim Murphy, former ICCRS Council member from U.S.A, Dr. Alan Schreck, professor of Theology, Franciscan University of Steubenville,U.S.A, and Mark Nimo, former ICCRS Council member from Ghana, and yours truly. For more information on this event, you may call 1-800-437-8368 or access, www.ICCRS.org, or www.RobertCantonMinistries.org, or www.FranciscanConferences.com. This is a very rare opportunity for us to attend a Leadership Training Course of this kind and scope. So, please seize this opportunity as much as you can.
AFCCPC Event:
The AFCCPC is also conducting a spiritual retreat on April 15-17, 2011 in Lutz, Florida, a suburb of Tampa. This retreat will be held in spacious Bethany Retreat Center, a two-year old retreat center. A total of 19 rooms have been reserved with single, double, triple, or quadruple occupancy and the rate is $139 per single occupancy. This rate includes a total of six meals, starting with dinner on Friday, April 15, 2011. The retreat is open to all leaders and prayer group members and other interested parties.
The chairperson of this event is Dr. Al Albarracin, the AFCCPC VNC-Administration, who is a part time resident of Ft. Myers, FL .or a “snowbird” in “rich-man’s parlance” and he is being assisted by our Trumpet Editor Ramon Mescallado, a full-time resident of Cape Coral, Florida which is only two-hours drive from Lutz. Please mark your calendar and plan on attending this retreat next year. The retreat master will be announced soon. I had the opportunity to stay in this Retreat Center last January during the Committee of 6 Meeting, and I highly recommend this facility. The meals served were exceptionally good and the ambiance is excellent and very conducive to a “spiritual re-charging” activity . More information about this retreat will be available in our website and our newsletter, The Trumpet, soon.
Lastly, I would like to inform you that I was unanimously reelected to another three-year term to the ICCRS Council during our annual meeting in Assisi, Italy last May. Again, I pledge to continue to serve the Catholic Charismatic Renewal and the Universal Church in general as much as I possibly can in my humble capacity as representative to the English speaking Renewal in North and Central America and Caribbean countries for the greater glory and honor of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. With the Lord helping us and with your prayers and support, I believe we can achieve. To God be the glory, forever and ever, Amen!
